WINDOW
DISPLAY: Actress and artist Carol Dolton made a flying
visit to Rolls-Royce’s Main Works factory to see for the first
time the stained glass window that inspired one of her pieces.
Carol, who appeared in the R-R centenary play, Silver Ghosts and
Spitfires, at the Derby Playhouse in the summer, saw a picture of
the window while rehearsing.
She decided to paint an image of the window onto an old door, taken
from a house in Bromley Street, Derby, which has survived Second
World War bombings in the city.
But Carol, from Holloway, near Matlock, had never seen the real
window, in the Main Works, Nightingale Road, until Friday.
She said: “I enjoyed doing this piece and would like to tackle
something like it again in the future.”
